OK - something big went down in 1760...you need to get me answers - NOW!! Get back to 1760 and let me know what happened.
Our records indicate that there are now two major fur trading companies -the Hudson's Bay Company (HBC) and the North West Company (NWC).
Nowadays I don't hear too much about the NWC anymore but I just purchased a killer pair of shoes at a store called Hudson Bay Company...hmm I wonder what happened??
You need to report back to me what you see.
Don't forget to include:
- how did the NWC start?
- where did the NWC operate? (whose trade routes did the NWC take over?)
- what the heck is a Factor?
- how did the Metis roles in the fur trade change? did the Metis women do anything important?
- include a map that show where each company operated and where their forts were located
- which company won the fur trade? how much land did that company end up controlling? when did it happen?
- what ended the fur trade?
- what was life in the forts? describe a typical day in the life of one of the forts
Please report back no later than December 18.
Good luck on your mission!
Sincerely,
Mr. Peabody
